WHAT IS GLENELG SHIRE 2040?

This is a Community Plan – the first of its kind for the shire. It will set the foundations for the next 20 years on how we set our work plan, sitting as the highest level plan in the organization. It is an overarching strategic plan which informs how we invest in community assets, plan future programs, and make our shire an important place to live, and importantly for others to invest so we grow our population and economy. It’s important you have your say so you can ensure that your community, and ideas, are top of mind.

Without a long term vision it’s difficult to set strategic objectives and establish priorities, goals and indicators for success.

This Community Plan will have the power of strengthening our work, assisting in long term asset management, land use planning, infrastructure planning, and amendments to planning schemes to unlock future investment opportunities.

GLENELG SHIRE 2040 PROJECT LAUNCH

mONDAY 16 sEPT 2019

...we launched the project. Our panel of expert guest speakers included Christy Arnott a Social Researcher, Sally Jensen a Local Sustainability Educator, Simon Kuestenmacher from the Demographics Group, and Dr Angus Hervy and Tane Hunter, the Co-founders of Future Crunch.

WHERE WILL WE BE?

In 2020, we will be embarking on our shire-wide roadshow. But during the summer, we will be coming to where you are, and attending some of your local community events. The below calendar has all the important dates, and also stayed tuned via our social media to find out more.

Next steps...

1.

Community Pop Up's at your local events. Keep your eye out for us, and continue to check the above calendar of events.

2.

Recruitment of 75 members of the Glenelg Shire community to form a Community Reference Group. It will be the role of the CRG to lead and champion the project within your local community.

3.

We are also looking  Conversation Facilitators within the Glenelg Shire to lead conversations with, and between the local community; and live, work, and/or play in the Glenelg Shire

4.

A shire-wide roadshow will commence in 2020, including listening posts, information sessions, pop-up stands at local events, plus an online consultation via the YourSay Glenelg website.
